The Key to Happiness — Kara Payton
When you look at your surroundings and think of how it’s not where you want it to be, you energetically cut yourself off from where you do want to be. You reaffirm what’s around you. The negative energy around it strengthens and digs that groove deeper.
The weight never sheds, the relationship remains stagnant, the job never advances, the money continues to elude you bank account.
Ever notice how you stub your toe out of bed that it seems like every subsequent event just pitches your day down a staircase? You spill your coffee, you get a headache, you end up getting out the door behind schedule, then traffic, a no-show client, an out-of-stock status, a wrong carryout order, a dropped cell phone, locking your keys in the car, etc. It just stacks. The opposite is true as well.
The conflict with trying to get where you want when you’re in a focus of what you don’t want is that you are facing the downward staircase while screaming at the stairs to face the other way. In order to move from going down to going up, you have to stop and turn yourself.
The ‘stop and turn’ is so critical but so counter intuitive because it seems to ask us to briefly ignore our reality.
But if you’ll hear it another way, its not ignoring…its just shifting focus regardless of what’s happening and granting yourself the power to change and not expecting the reality to change.
Your focus is everything. How you define what you are focusing on is your life.
Your life is not a matter of what was or what is …it is the result of how you chose to define both.
