There are a LOT of things you have to push out of your mind to focus on your complaints.
What is going wrong is always available. And the more we go there, seeking what is wrong, the easier it will be to find more things.
The wonderful news is that the same is true for what is right and what is good.
The more you choose to focus on what is good or going well, the easier it will be to catch sight of things that are like it.
You are either actively focusing on the bad or the good. And we know where each focus will lead us but knowledge isn’t power — it’s potential.
So why do we focus so often on what is bad or going poorly?
Simple.
It’s the default.
Your brain’s default is to look around for threat. Potential, real or imagined. Your brain doesn’t operate to keep you happy or make you feel good. It’s primary function is to keep you safe and alive. Therefore, it scans your environment for any kind of information that could validate a fear or confirm a bias, story or belief.
This could be anything that would affect a relationship, a potential circumstance you face, a future conversation with a coworker or even the way someone looked at you.
This is your default, and it creates stress, anxiety, depression, and affects your entire life.
Now that you know that, how important do you think it is to start a happiness habit? Take the course at karapayton.com!
